Why LYRICAL HAIR‘s stock men's toupees use synthetic grey hair

Dyed grey human hair has one problem we never solved: it won't hold its color outdoors. A few days in strong sun and it drifts brassy yellow. Once that happens it stops matching the hair growing out of your own scalp, which defeats the point of a salt-and-pepper blend in the first place.

So for stocked grey blends we use premium memory fiber. It isn't dyed, so there's nothing to fade. The finish is matte rather than shiny — nobody wants a hairpiece that catches the light — and it holds its shape through daily wear instead of slowly losing its form.

A bit about us: Lyrical Hair is the largest men's toupee factory in Qingdao and the biggest manufacturer of men's hair systems in China, and we run a direct store in the US. We keep 124 hair colors and more than 4,000 SKUs. Our human hair goes through a 60-minute cuticle removal process, which is where the shine and softness come from. Every hairline is bleached at the knots, so the perimeter sits invisible against the skin.

The grey inventory is where we've put the most work. We hold 45,000 units of mixed grey hair, running from 5% grey to 90%, spread across 2,500-plus grey-blend SKUs. Base sizes in stock include 5×7, 6×8, 7×9, 7×10 and 8×10. It's local stock rather than a made-to-order run, so lead times stay short even for buyers ordering mixed sizes.
