Your first 30 days with a hair system: a week-by-week survival guide
The first thirty days with a hair system are the hardest, and the ones that matter most. Almost every habit you'll keep for years gets set in that month. Here's the week-by-week guide I wish someone had handed me before day one.

Week 1: expect the mirror freak-out
Day one feels strange. You look in the mirror and see yourself, off by a couple of millimetres somewhere. Some men love it immediately. Others get a small spike of doubt. Both are normal.
The one rule for week one is not to judge the thing from ten centimetres away. Judge it from conversation distance, in natural light, because that's how everyone else sees you. Day three is usually the low point. It passes.
Then get out of the house. Run an errand. Meet a friend for coffee. The first public outing is never as dramatic as the fear in your head. Nobody stares, nobody asks, and you'll spend the entire coffee waiting for a comment that never comes.
Week 2: find your routine
Week two is for habits: the five-minute morning reset, the first wash, the right order for the brush strokes, ends to base, always. Write it down. The habits you build now are the ones you keep.
Somewhere around day ten to fourteen, most men hit the "does it really look natural?" moment. Do the honest check instead of the anxious one. Take a photo in daylight, at arm's length, and ask whether you'd look twice at that person. If not, you're done. You're the harshest critic you'll ever have, so overrule yourself and move on.
Week 3: the first maintenance
This is where men either relax into ownership or start neglecting. Learn four things: when to refresh the adhesive, how to wash without soaking the base, why conditioner isn't optional, and how long it actually takes. Fifteen minutes, twice a week. That's the whole job.
Week three is also when you'll forget. An hour, a meeting, an afternoon will go by and it won't occur to you. That's not a lapse. That's the milestone. The hair system has gone from project to background.
Week 4: look forward, not in the mirror
By week four the mirror-checking should be fading on its own. If it isn't, that tells you something about the hair system rather than about you, usually a fit or base issue that can be fixed. Don't live with it. Get it adjusted.
Then use the last days of the month to get ahead of month two. Order the next system before you need it, book the refit, restock the care kit. Month two should be about living, not logistics.

Read those four weeks again and notice what they're actually about. Hair is barely in them. The real subject is the shift from watching to living, from checking the mirror to checking things off your day. The system is the prop. The adjustment happens in your head.
It goes faster from the right foundation. A manufacturer with a full factory, a company like LYRICAL HAIR, builds Swiss lace, French lace or skin bases matched to your own hairline, which removes most of the "is this right?" guesswork from weeks one through four.
Thirty days from now you won't be the guy with a hair system. You'll just be the guy. That's what the first month is for.
